Glenburn 6 – 4 Queens

Tonight we saw Glenburn take on Queens at home in Division 2 of the Belfast and District Table Tennis League. The match ended with a score line of Glenburn (6) and Queens (4). The format for the match was a 4 Vs 3 player format.

Neil Magrath reporting on the match said “A great match which saw Glenburn fast out of the blocks to lead 3-1 only for Queens to stage a comeback to level the match at 4-4 with some tight matches which could have gone either way. Glenburn then found another gear with Matthew winning the last singles and teaming up with Steve in the doubles to end up 6-4 winners. Steve remained unbeaten for Glenburn while star of the evening for Queens was Fabian with 3 singles wins. Lucy C had a great victory and then was involved in the match of the evening against Fabian which see-sawed right to the final set when Fabian come from behind against a very competitive Lucy who never gave up, to win 11-9. Chris (Queens) also had tight matches with experience telling in his win edging out the determined young Lucy J.”

Matt who was reporting on the match said “A great nights Tabletennis down in Banbridge and great to see familiar faces, with division 3 having many new teams and movement going on this year. Our matches against the guys at Banbridge can go either way and luck landed on our side this time around – If I recall correctly Arnold faced around 4 or 5 edge points against him in a single set! William continued his strong start to the season by taking Hamish + Andrew – Both in heavily contested 5th sets. We look forward to the return fixture back in Ormeau :)”.
