Chris Flannigan reporting on the match said “Close match that went all the way to the 5th set of the doubles before being decided in Civil Service’s favour. Man of the match was the Civil Service’s newly promoted number one Daniel Flannigan who was the only player to win all his matches. All present agreed that the highlight of the night was Ray’s decision to retrieve a ball that had been smashed past him and become stuck in the curtain by kicking the curtain, only to discover that there was a window sill behind the curtain.”

Ranjit Singh reporting on the match said “Osmond and Ormeau played outstanding Table Tennis and the winner after tight matches were Ormeau 6-4.

The final outcome of the match was decided in deuce of 10th match fifth set. Doubles was an incredible match. Jonnie and Joel fought back after determined John and Adam were leading 2-1 and 8-4 up. Ormeau boys regrouped and focused to win the fifth set in deuce. All four played excellent game with lots of rallies and placement. John’s forward, Joel’s classic backhard, Adam’s topspin and Jonnie’s consistency. What a thrilling doubles match

Overall John, Adam and James gave a tough fight to Ormeau.
Jonnie and Joel played superb winning all their matches. Keeping the fight for top spot going!”

The match included three tense 5 setters with Jeff losing narrowly to Julian but securing victory over Chris by 14 to 12 in the final set; Chris used all his experience to edge out Anna in the final set. It has been a most entertaining first half of the Division 2 programme and the league is nicely set up for after Christmas.”
