Tonight we saw Civil Service take on Ballyholme at home in Division 4 of the Belfast and District Table Tennis League. The match ended with a score line of Civil Service (5) and Ballyholme (5). The format for the match was a 3 Vs 4 player format.
Paul Clarke reporting on the match said “Ballyholme had lost 6-4 in the home fixture and had to battle very hard to get a draw and remain in 2nd place going into the last round of fixtures. Man of the match was Albert Coulter who won his three singles. He came from 2-0 down v Daniel to win 3-2 and then beat Chris 3-0. I doubt if anyone else in division 4 this season could say they won 6 sets in a row against the impressive Flannigan’s! Special word re Billy Mateer who narrowly missed out in 5 setters v Paul and Ron but he joined forces with Chris to win the doubles and make sure Civil Service did not lose the match.”
