Tonight we saw Glenburn take on Ormeau at home in Division 2 of the Belfast and District Table Tennis League. The match ended with a score line of Glenburn (9) and Ormeau (1). The format for the match was a 4 Vs 4 player format.
Neil Magrath reporting on the match said “Glenburn took on the inform Ormeau team and had to step up their game. The match started off very tight with Connor edging out Matthew in a topsy turvy 5 set match and James getting a good win against Tim. After this Glenburn really turned up the power with Lucy and Andy winning both their singles matches, though not without a fight especially against Joel, and Matthew and James winning the reverse singles with Connor again putting in a good performance. The doubles matches were as usual very entertaining with great rallies with Andy and Matthew just getting the better of Connor and Tim, and Lucy and James again combining to close out the match with a win to record an overall 9-1 victory. All the players can be proud of their performance, and special mention must also go to Glenburn forwards (attacking) coach Willie who starred with Matthew / Andy and backs (defensive) coach Steve who looked after James/Lucy – maybe Ireland rugby coaches could learn something from them…”
